THE SUDDEN FLOOD AND ITS AFTERMATH
by Femi A. Falade
Although we prepared for it, we arranged and prepared our containers very well, we even called friends who could benefits from the flood, we thought it would come from our targeted direction, no, it caught us unaware.
It was the flood of the spirit at Face-to-Face with God. The flood came when we are still making preparations. Many who came to watch could not hold the drenching experiences. As if we were in the days of Noah when the flood lasted for forty days, the three days experience place an unending and unquenching demands on our passion and pursuits of God.
How could we escape such a mighty flood? We even thought our foundations were strengthened enough to withstand it, we soon discovered that, our self-deadness is what is required to swim in this flood for long. Our flesh was drained, yet our spirits was socked. I practically saw the need for more humility as Apostle Awe Ayodeji unfolded how prophet Isaiah discovered his pride-object. We know it must be none of us but all of Him. We can’t shall this glory with God, we are not beasts.
The matter of humility, both saw and experienced, became a more alarming one. We must be humble to God, to our altar and to our society. Even Jesus, greater than death, humble Himself to it, the kind of death that even took Jesus submission was the hang-on-a-tree type of death not sleep-and-don’t-wakeup.
Altar calls were so personal both immediately and after each drench and up till now. We found the need to urgently repair the broken altars lease the flood of iniquities that took our fathers away also make our lives of no worth as Apostle Tosin Adegoke showed us from the scriptures. The aftermath was more glorious than the event itself. I have watch people testifying and we have seen practical testimonies.
What are we supposed to do after this humbling flood or the name individual gave it experientially? Now that we are equipped, what do we do with our lives? Yes, we need to witness with power. Yes, we need to push men into deep and cause spiritual hullabaloos in the dark terrain of this world. Yes, we need to live as aromas of grace. Yes, we need to occupy till He comes.
Is that all? No. We also need to go back to our churches and ministries and cause a kingdom change. We need to do that in our academic environment, economic position and political wise too. We have gathered to scatter; we need to scatter to all facets of our human endeavours to bring God’s mind to His people. This Pentecost experience must not go just-like-that. we must witness the cross we encountered. THIS IS THE PURPOSE OF PENTECOST.
