Don’t Die Poor
A Clarion Call into Financial Prosperity for All Christians
By Femi A. Falade
(This is an excerpt from the book Don’t Die Poor: A Clarion Call into Financial Prosperity for all Christians)
It is better I die now than to live for or in poverty. Those who tagged their Christianity with their poverty experience are supposed to be called bastards or slaves who have not come to the knowledge of the father they claim to know…. (From the Chapter: The Clarion Call)
…….Why do you think God is wicked? Why do you agree with those who believe erroneously that Wealth is for certain people, but not for them? Why should you join the congregations of people who see rich believers as “sinners in their embryos?” Why do you castigate those who have some riches as if they are no more born-again? All these, are signs of immature Christians…. (From the chapter: Why Christians are Poor)
Please help me tell everybody around you that Christianity is not a call into poverty. Christianity and poverty has never met before. They are enemies. They are far from each other. Most people thought like the church in Smyrna in Revelation chapter 2:8-9. They said we are poor. We have nothing. We are broke. There is nothing in our houses. Our children are not doing fine. We are Christians, but we are poor. You can’t be a Christian and be poor. You will need to be one….. (From the chapter: Misconception about Christians’ Wealth)
I like to beg all poverty-preachers in all the nooks and crannies of the world. Some of them are anointed pastors and prophets. Some of them are even bishops and arch-bishops. They tell their members that, being poor is a sign of a devoted Christian….. (From the chapter: The Contributions of Poverty-Preachers)
Jesus was poor. Yes, he was poor. In fact, my prayer is, if Christians will be poor, they should be poor like Jesus. Jesus poverty is so obvious in all he did. What a poor Jesus! This was what he experienced all through. The bible told us that he was rich but became poor for us so that by his poverty we might become rich, (see 2Cor. 8:9). Well let me introduce you to a poor Jesus.
A poor Jesus throughout his life lived in sufficiency not in penury. There was a time we could describe as the period of his financial brokenness, he told peter to get money from the mouth of a fish. Some people call it the first Automated Teller Machine Transaction. Jesus preached using a moving boat. Jesus was celebrated with one of the most costly perfumes in the bible story. Jesus dined the last supper in a well-furnished dining room. Jesus rode on a young colt. A brother called that a brand new car, being a unique aspect of the transport system of that time. Jesus did not turn water to “Fanta”, (a bottle drink sold in most part of the world), He turned it to the best wine. The chairman of the wedding at Galilee that time addressed the wine as the most expensive wine. Jesus’ garment was divided and they casted lots to know who to give, could that be T.M Lewis designer of today?.
Jesus fasted for forty days at his own will and refused to turn stone to bread, signaling to the devil, “Come on devil, it is a poor mentality to do that, how can I turn stone into bread?” I have more than enough, I only chose to fast.….. (From the chapter: The Poor Jesus)
Christianity is a call into fullness of life. A life Jesus accomplished for us. Jesus became poor that we might become rich. God created all things from the fish of the sea to the herbs on the earth to enjoy, so all his creatures are for man. If God created such things at the beginning for Adam and Eve then, how rich or wealthy is God expecting us to be……. (From the chapter: Dynamics of Christians’ Riches)
Poverty is hell in itself. Poverty and sin are good friends not only neighbours. If you are poor you will sin and continue to sin until you can “sin no more”. At that time, you would emerge the position of sin. You would be called “sin” by sin itself.... Poverty has remained the reason for many people bad actions. The level of poverty in the world makes people to fear the devil. Not knowing that the devil himself is not poor…… (From the Chapter: The Danger of Poverty)
Living beyond poverty is not the lack of money per se. It is having notable independence in that area of your finances. There are open secrets from God’s word to live in this reality; open secrets not “secrets itself” as it has been wrongly presented to us by many preachers. God cannot keep what you need from you so that you will not see it. God only place them where you can see them if you can look for them by showing your interests……… (From the chapter: Living beyond Poverty)
Your riches are not only for you, many generations are tied to it. These generations could go beyond your grandchildren and sometimes could be uncountable and unending. That is why you must know how to fulfil God’s demand for your riches. (From the chapter: Fulfilling the Purpose of Your Riches)
What money can buy is what it cannot buy. (Selah). The day a rich man start seeing his riches as one is the day he starts getting poor…… (From the Chapter: Cautions for the Rich)
And many more and more and more…
