SLEEP: A DANGEROUS ENEMY
by Oluwaseun E. Olatoye
‘Halleluiah somebody! God promised us this, that and that’, on hearing these, the whole congregations jam their hands together as they rejoiced. The word of God is ever true, so precious that we place our totality on it. This i believe is the testimony of many of us right now. halleluyah!
Some years back, a woman was trusting God for a child. She said to herself, "God said there shall not be any barren in my house" so she follow other women every year to God’s house, eating, drinking and goes back the same way. This continues for years as she was expecting fulfilment of promise with so many questions running through her mind. Suddenly, she woke up from her sleeping state and then realised that sleep has done much harm to her, it has not only robbed her of her testimony but many productive years of her life. She later became so determined that she key into her testimony that year by signing her own part of the contract.
Many of us are going this year with the former state of that woman. Good to rejoice, be merry and expectant, remember that there are just 2 sides to a coin. God will unfailingly fulfil his own part of the deal but you will see nothing if you are there just to fold your arms to sleep. What are you planning to do with those divine instructions giving to you? What of the new commitments you just made at God’s hearing, do you think they are for fun of it. Your father is a covenant keeping God, He is a known industrious Being so why should you be idle? Why are you moving about as though the kingdom doesn’t have expectation upon your life? This is why many years are wasted, many pending but overdue promises.
Remember, this wicked sleep cheated some people of their overdue freedom. What has sleep stolen from you in your finance, education, marriage or ministry last year? This is not the time to dwell on past failures, it is time to take responsibilities, be faithful to your part of divine agreement.
This is a new season, plant the seeds handled to you, attend to their growth, wet and see them grow and multiply. Only those that sow in their tears shall reap joyfully. God will definitely be faithful with the rain.
Oh sleeper, rise and do something with your new level, face the challenges and add badges to your military coat. It is still morning, no man works when the night come. This is a warning for those moving into land of fulfilment, don’t remain in the land of day dreamer by folding hands to sleep. Careless sleep is a great robber, determine not to give it a chance this year.
God bless you!
