EML: HUNGRY MAN’S SIZE
by Femi A. Falade
Years ago, when we were very young, my mother, when serving our food will always make one funny but factual statement. The statement is more emphatic especially when I changed my face when I noticed that the food she was serving for me is little. She says: “Ekun ren deru ba o” in Yoruba dialect of Nigeria which is translated as “your stomach is scaring you”.
She could be right because hunger is not good and of course left its victims uncontrollably seeking what to devour. In fact, it could be so bad that, parents can eat their own children like we read in one of the biblical stories.
Those who have experienced some kinds of hunger in the past can tell you that hunger has stages, levels and grades. Some people perpetual hunger resulted to Ulcer while others went to engage in unrighteous acts such as stealing, immoralities, lies, robberies, and so on to satisfy the desires of their stomachs.
Friends, I bring you a dimension of filling your hunger and the size of the substance that can sustain you.
Spiritual hunger is a blessing in God’s kingdom unlike the natural hunger. In fact, the scripture told us such people are blessed; God is pleased with a hungry man. That you are hungry in the kingdom is a goodnews. But wait, what are you hungry for? Miracles? Jobs? Marriage? Fruit of the womb? Admission into Higher Institutions? Success in life and ministry? Or other natural things? If these are what formed your hunger, your hunger cannot be said to be kingdom's hunger but natural hunger.
Jesus said, seek first kingdom hunger and all these things will be added unto you.
If you are hungry for God, you are hungry at the right direction and the bible says you will be filled.
The more you are hungry, the more you are filled. It means, the day you stop getting hunger, that is the day you start getting empty.
EML which means “Empty Me Lord” is a kind of hunger demonstration by a hungry man. It is a focus of an hungry man. That kind of outcry is for a man who is desperate for the Lord. The Spirit of Worship ministered a song to me and I called it the wrestler's song in this line:
....Empty me Lord and fill me
Empty me Lord and fill me
Until my taste is gone
Until my life is gone
Until my desires are gone
Empty me Lord and fill me....
This song, when singing it, shows desperacy in the order of the infilling we are trusting God for. If you are hungry for God, the secret to get better hunger and be truly filled with God is to empty yourself before Him so that every part that has been occupied by the “I” in you would be vacant and God can fill you afresh.
Simple word for simple hearts, encounter greetings from:
