RE: WHY I PUBLISH OFTEN AND MOMENTARILY
By Femi A. Falade, BBB
After some time of not publishing any article, I suddenly felt guilty of not doing so even though I do online teaching every Wednesday. I just got enough burdens to know why the passion for writing and publishing may be disturbed and the factor that could lead to it. I took time to read one of the chapters of “The Journey a book by David Olawade (one of my motivators in the writing ministry) and the chapter was titled WHY I PUBLISH OFTEN AND MOMENTARILY.
Thanks for the word Pastor David. The article you are reading now can be titled Why I do not publish often and momentarily. I have not written to find excuses for such lackadaisicalness but to awaken many dump writers and those who wish to write but are challenged by several challenges of all kinds. This article will locate the challenges of writer and writing ministry and how to overcome them.
First is the challenge of passion and zeal. Writing requires some level of passion and zealousness. Writing passion is in-built. When it is lost, such writer must take time to settle his mind to generate such passion again. It can engage the weapon of prayer or fasting and prayer, and if the source of writing is scriptural exposition, commit himself to thorough study and prayers.
Second is the challenge of dry hand. This happens when the writer wish to write but no idea is coming. Sometimes, incomplete ideas or unclear ideas come and lead to more confusion on the part of the writer. To overcome this, the writer must visit his source of life again, that could be a problem from spiritual dryness. If not spiritual dryness, such writer should take time to read the articles of his motivators and sit in dialogue with motivators to be re-inspired again.
Third is the challenge of time and preoccupations. Several times, writers wish to write beautiful articles that can change lives by the power of the Holy Spirit; In fact, the idea is there, the points are there and the words are there, but there is no time to put things together. Writers should learn to pin-point their ideas in a jotter or diary or note the topic or the facts about the article when they are pre-occupied and look for avenues to develop it when they are free. The “free period may not be free”. Therefore, writer must learn to create time to write Gods letter to their recipients at all cost.
Fourth is the challenge of criticism, rejection and unappreciative responses from the audience. Dear writer, in the categories of predicted thoughts of audience David Olawade suggested, thoughts such as Why does he disturb me with broadcast? What is his business with my endeavors? Who is he to tell me how to live my life? Is he the only one who can write? I have stopped reading his broadcasts for long why is he still sending it to me? Some of the posts do not concern me? Some of his posts are against my ideologies, perspectives and beliefs? you will find out that, opinion is a natural entitlement as Bishop David Oyedepo once said. We must neglect castigations, avoid vain disputes that bible says it leads to more ungodliness and check if we are not victims of their observations. We must, however, be cautioned not to be writers of heresies. Our scriptural knowledge must be sound and deep lease we write shallow things.
Finally, we must be constant with our writings, write as brief as possible but worded write-ups.
We must also be consistence like I learnt in Masterpiece David Olawade attitude to writing. We must know that beyond our environment are people who reads our articles and are blessed by them. We must keep pressing and avoid distractions to the growth of our writing ministries.
Compliments of the Seasons,
