THE PASTOR, CHURCH PROGRAMME AND GOD’S PROGRAMME

The matter we raised from part one has a source. The problem, I observed and studied, is the inability of the pastor to know that, He is a caretaker put in charge of the ministry and not “my ministry” as we claim today. God spoke this word to me early when He was giving me the pattern of the ministry in our care and I never joke with it. 

Another needed clarification is that, the programmes are not church programmes but God’s programmes and if they are God’s programmes who fix the date, time, venue and theme? Do you not fix them based on our clever observation of what in trend in the street? I remembered God has raised this issue using me to confront some men of God with wisdom sometimes ago. At the end, they sincerely say, “I just felt that is what we need now, can’t you see, so, so and so?”, May God have mercy on us. (Amen).

If you are a caretaker, how will you collect beyond the collections mandated by the Owner of the ministry and call it special offerings? Today, in many churches, we have building collections (when the church is already completed), welfare offering, (what is the general offering supposed to be used for), Bishop Emergency collection (Which one is emergency?), development fees, (In church?), Sustentation fees, (Is the church a club?) and other names that we use to coined their dubious means of raking the church members’ pockets. Is this what Christ left for us?

In my book, “STEAM OF SPIRITUAL SERVICE”, I also noted that:

Many sermons on tithe and offering always have some element of greediness due to the urge and desire to expand the church by the preacher.…….. Many people have turn their pastors to money raisers when they refuse to obey simple biblical instruction, the pastor too, in order to finance church expenses start money-raking stories. If you are among this category of pastors or people or you are having such intention, please repent. May God forgive us, (Amen).

If it is church programmes, don’t forget, church will finance it, if it is your programme, oh pastor, you will finance it, if it is God’s programme, God will finance it. If it is yours, it will follow your order, if it is church’s, it will follow church order, if it is God’s, it will follow God’s order. 

We cannot continue to live in this like manner. We need to repent. We must give God all things. It is His, it is not ours. They are God’s people, they are not church people or members. It is God’s property not pastor’s. We need to stop all those competitions and give our all to God. We must return the church, the people, the programmes and the properties back to the Owner- God and remain as the caretakers position taking instruction and walking in line with the standard set by the Owner. 

God, we need help, Lord we repent!
