THE CURRENT STATE OF OUR BROTHERS

As we prepare for another valentine day tomorrow, I have a cry in my heart that every single, married and divorced person must hear! This cry is both masculine and feminine. The feminine part is what this title carries- “the Current State of Our Brothers” and the masculine part is the part two of this article titled, “the Current State of Our Sisters”.

I could not help cry when I met many potential family men in the dungeon of indecisions.  I look out and in and discover that, the state of our brothers out there have sifted rightward and/or leftward. 

THEIR FORMER STATE

Our brothers or call them young men who have met with the Lord are humble and passionately seeking God. Their dressing shows that, if it is not God, it is nothing. Their approaches to issues of life are at the higher side. Their seriousness for career could be traced to their love for God. Their passion, like that of Joseph, was uncompromising in its stands.

Our brothers prefer vigil to night party.  They prefer friendship to dating and prefer courtship to “hanging out”. They are not double minded neither do they practice the principle of “double dating”. We will always find them with Christian books that talk of heaven and how to please God and something with books on spiritual warfare, power and anointing coupled with biographies of great and successful men. They prefer spiritual meetings to football shows, going to mountain to going to fun-tain. They sleeps and God brought their “Eves” to them, they are kindly affectionate but not lustfully. The former state was great and we are proud of them. What now happened?

THE CHANGES

Our brothers, in a bid to adjust to the new system in operation in ours societies, have embraced certain changes. Their usual word is that, we are kingdom stars. They have devoted themselves to sisters’ study and not to bible study. Their calculations and articulations have shifted from the time of our usual spiritual meeting to the time of extra curriculum activities. They have changed trousers from “chalk trousers” to “pencil trousers” and their passion and zeal for career pursuit can now be traced to their love for money and man-show, self-show and body-show.

It is to our greatest surprise that our brothers now begin to prefer party to vigil and “hanging out” to courtship. We were soon surprised to see some of them saying that, their dressing does not matter again, but their inner dispositions. Our brothers now fall in love with romantic novels and stories with less interest for Christian literatures. They prefer to smartly compromise the standard of God than to pay the sacrifice of a righteous man. 

Our brothers have now become professional football analysts. They prefer football show to word-show (bible study). They no longer sleep to see God bring their Eves to them, they now assume the position of a dangerous finder and thus meet dangerous “waiters” and we see the drama of relationship all around.

THE EXPECTATION AND THE WAYOUT

Now that our brothers have changed, we need cautions. We must beg them to return to the image of God they carry and portrays before now. We must charge them to look back and amend their ways. We must call them back to purpose and to God of purpose. We must not be ignorant of the devices of the enemies.

Our sisters also must be aware. They must “check thoroughly and find out the truth” among them. They must not be carried away by their valentine gifts and love quotes. It is a lie. It is a demon. It is a lust. They must be careful of many “I love you”. Many “I love you” is not a sign of true love but ordinary analogy. Our sister must be spiritually wise to discern the current state of the brother that brought that proposal. This is our final say.
