WHY THE CROSS?
The Significance of Jesus on the Cross

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. John 3 :14
The reason why Jesus died on the cross instead of being killed and buried was that the whole world could see Him. If Jesus wasn't lifted up, many people could have given the excuse that they never saw him.
The centurion has being with Jesus. Probably he has seen Him few times and has heard about Him, but he realized who Jesus is on the cross, (See Mark 15:39) and he believed that He is truly the son of God
In the book of numbers 21:8 the fiery serpent the children of Israel were to look upon was the significant of the cross. "That who so ever look upon it will live- "that whosoever believeth in him will not perish but have eternal life (John3:15).
If he wasn’t lifted up, there will be no scripture that says "looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith. (Hebrew 12:2). He was nailed with criminals that men might have an intimacy with God. Christ became sin that we might become the righteousness of God.
Jesus gave us victory over principalities and powers when he was nailed to the cross. (Col. 2:14). Jesus bore all our sins in his own body on the cross, " that we being dead to sins should live unto righteousness (1Peter 2:24). Jesus sacrificed Himself that we might live unto righteousness, that means any life that is not living according to the platform which Jesus has made is not correct, therefore let us check our lives and live the kind of live that Jesus wants us to live.
Jesus became curse that we might be redeemed from every curse and in any form. (Gal 3:13). Jesus gave us access to the father and that was why the veil that was separating us from the father was torn from up to down, he gave us the right to call God our father. You can check through the Old Testament before the death of Jesus Christ, no one have the right to call God, Father. Thus, he gave us the power to become the sons and daughters of God.
The only challenge believers have is when they don't have the knowledge of this or when they are ignorance of the fact that they are ignorance of this. He has made himself known to us, that we will look up unto him on the cross.
Happy Easter,
